We need your help identifying a suspect in connection with a recent robbery and homicide investigation.

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, approximately 11:46 p.m., Newport News police responded to a suspicious situation at a business in the 1400 block of Kiln Creek Parkway.

Two adult males were found inside the business with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced deceased at the scene. The victims were later identified as 52-year-old Preyas Patel, of Yorktown, and 35-year-old Logan Edward Thomas, of Newport News.

The investigation remains ongoing.

On January 20, 2022, Newport News police were notified of a vehicle stolen from the parking lot of Joe’s Quick Mart, in the 11700 block of Jefferson Avenue.

We need your help identifying the suspect in this case. The investigation revealed that the owner left his keys inside the vehicle while he went into the store. Remember to always lock your vehicle, take your keys with you, and don’t leave valuables in plain sight.

Shooting Investigation: Deputy Lane

On May 7, 2022, approximately 2:06 p.m., Newport News police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Deputy Lane.

There, they found a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with an injury that is believed to be life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation revealed the incident occurred outside; however, the circumstances remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to release.
